Mountains of Gold
Let me just get this out of the way. You can make huge piles of gold by selling scrap and dust from your Star Altar, especially the orange kind. As you level up the Altar, storage capacity and the amount of dust and scrap you receive increases significantly. Oddly, the rewards decrease as you power level increases. Do not ask me why for I do not know.
Star Altar
OK, where was I? Oh, yes. I was about to tell you about the Star Altar and how it works! The White Mage uses manna to upgrade your ability gems. The Blacksmith uses craft value from salvaged equipment to upgrade your gear. But to evolve either one you will need the Star Altar to create evolution resources. Scrap is needed to evolve gear. Dust is needed to evolve ability gems.
Level Up your Stuff
Let’s not rush into things. You can’t evolve anything until it has been upgraded to its maximum level by the Blacksmith (equipment) or the White Mage (ability gems). Common green items must be upgraded four times before they can be evolved. Some high-end orange items need to be upgraded thirteen times! Each time an item is evolved it will color a single star.
Once you have fully upgraded your item you will need to obtain evolution resources (scrap or dust) to evolve it. Tap the Star Altar in Grayhaven to begin. You’ll see the screen shown below. If you are doing this for the first time there will be a zero beneath each type of evolution resource.
Make an Offering
Drag a piece of equipment into the box on the left if you want scrap. Drag an ability gem into the box if you want dust. In the example below I will be making amethyst dust using two purple ability gems. I dragged a single purple ability gem into the box and that opened the new panel shown below.
At this point I will add the second purple ability gem and choose a battle mode.
I will choose the “expert” mode for two reasons. The first reason is that the difficulty will be normal. I can win this battle easily without using potions. The second reason is that the amount of amethyst dust the “master” setting provides will exceed the limit that my Star Altar can currently hold. Much of it will be lost.
The Star Arena
OK, you’re almost done! You can go ahead and press the “Make Offering” button. After you make your offering you will be transported to the Star Arena depicted below to fight in 4-on-1 combat. And no, it isn’t you and three of your friends against a single enemy. It’s four enemies trying to defeat you! You will have five chances to prevail in the Star Arena. If you don’t win the first time you can limp back to town, load up on health potions and boosters then head back in. If you lose the battle all five times you will lose your offerings.
Using your Evolution Materials
If you win, your evolution materials, dust or scrap, will be held for safe keeping in the Star Altar. When you visit the White Mage or Blacksmith to evolve your ability gems or equipment they will draw the necessary materials from the Star Altar.
Exchanging and Selling Resources
At some point in your hero’s development you’ll find that you have resources that you will never use. You now have two new options. You can exchange them for resources that you will use or sell them. Once you’ve gone through the process described above you can activate the Star Altar and select a resource that you would like to sell. In this example we will sell sapphire dust.
Selecting the dust will present us with the option to exchange or sell. We can sell all of it, a minimum amount, or somewhere in between. The controls in the image below speak for themselves.
To exchange resources you will simply select “exchange” rather than “sell”. The Altar will assume that you intend to improve all of your resource to the next best color class. You can reduce the amount that you want to exchange if you don’t have enough gold or if exchanging all of it will exceed your storage limit or if you want to save some to evolve a lesser item.
Upgrading the Star Altar
At some point you will need more evolution materials than what the Star Altar can hold. Don’t wait that long. Upgrade your Altar as fast as you can. There are billionaires in this game and they did not win their gold grinding dungeons. They converted every ability gem and high level weapon they could find in the Star Altar and brought it all the way up to level 29. You should do the same.
Is there anyway to speed up the waiting time? Every 6 hours is really long.
Another question is that is better to upgrade the item before you dissolve it? Is taking too much of storage place.
Wondering whats the go around for this case. TIA!

After dissolving the materials, i need to wait another 6 hours sometimes before I can dissolve again. Was wondering what determines the 6 hours wait or is it standard throughtout.
Anyway thanks for replying despite not playing for months.

It seems that the potions don’t fully work after a certain point. I had a lot of money to spend so I reached the maximum potion level yesterday even if I have still around 4 million of health for the moment. At this point I should be almost “immortal” but that’s not the case. When I use potions after a couple of seconds my health start to decrease in any case. Keep that in mind 😉

I’m pretty sure that I said “nearly immortal” or “the closest thing to immortality”.

I think things must have changed lately, I have only started playing recently and 1) you can’t offer grey materials (why would you want to?) 2) You only offer 2 items and there are no extra boxes for “bonus materials”. However if you are short of storage space (as I always am) you can add 2 items to the star altar, and if instead of pressing the “back” button you press x to close, those 2 items will sit in the star altar until you go back to it and not take up any storage space 🙂

Hello all!!
I am at level 25 on the altar and have the upgrade bar completely filled. It has been for awhile. The upgrade button is there, but I’m not able to upgrade to level 26. Does anyone know what the issue might be? I’m power level 75/164. I was wondering if you’re only able to upgrade past certain levels, at the altar, once you hit certain “power “levels. Any information would be appreciated!!
Thanks!!

I go to the white mage, drop my green skill (upgraded lvl6 of 6) > click evolve = says I don’t have green ash when I know I have more than enough green scrap.
I can only change green scrap to blue scrap for now and winning more green scrap? But I can’t seems to get green ash? Please help a noob much appreciated

okay I don’t know or should I say I didn’t fully understand the explanation to well on upgrading my armor pieces in particular. I have a 2 Star maxed out chest piece, and I am upgrading a 2 star that will be maxed out chest piece and my question is am I able to combine those two at the store altar and make those two items a more powerful single chest piece. The chest piece I am using now regretfully is the most powerful chess piece I have received in the game and I do not want to try to “evolve” it and lose both pieces and get some stupid dust or the other crap that is there. not that I’m saying that the death in the other material isn’t worth having I know it is, but I do not want to sacrifice my only good chest piece that I have either. I’ve only been playing the game for 22 days and I am completely lost on the whole evolving explanation. I do know that you can take two weapons or two armor pieces that are not maxed out and break them down for materials and I have done that many of times but I have never attempted to the evolved two of the exact same items maxed to see if I get something better not do not want to waste my time resources and my chest piece. Any information would be most helpful and most appreciated . Tyvm people.

Sorry, James. It is not possible to add stars to your gear. If you want a three-star chest piece you’ll need to fight your way through the next dungeon level to find one.
LikeLike
As of right now, this information is incorrect. You CAN add stars to gear or abilities. In order to do so, you take infinity ore (for gear) to the blacksmith, or infinity essence to the white mage. Place the infinity item directly onto the item you wish to upgrade. The rest of the process is like normal. You can only get the infinity ore or essence from special events. Hope this helps.

As an additional information:
the higher the level of the star altar is, the more dust or craft mats you will get.
This is very attractive hence you now can sell the unwanted dust. Using two legendary (orange) skills e.g. will give you ~30.000.000 if you do it on “Master”. But Im sure it will be changed in the upcoming update, atleast they will lower it.

I think Star Arena has a power limit on it. Since I had power level 54, an orange offering was a powerlevel 56 fight. I’ve got to powerlevel 64, and is still a level56 fight in the SA. Maybe it’s a upper cap?
Would be interesting if someone with powerlevel higher than 65 could test it out…
LikeLike
i doubt that there is a power-limit. My Power-lv right now is 68 and so is the suggestion when fighting at the altar at “master”-difficulty (hard). When i unequip my weapon power falls down to lv. 63 and the suggestion for master becomes 60 (easy). Also: Quality of item/skill doesn’t change suggested power-lv.
On a sidenote: The higher your power-lv, the higher the rewards when using exactly the same items as sacrifice.

Run the highest dungeon level you can up to mastery and grind it out. To get started, you’ll probably have to grind out the region below your gear. Run those campaigns and level up your dungeons up to master as fast as you can. Only spend time grinding up mastery gear from the dungeons. Don’t blow your resources on stuff you’re not going to keep, unless you need to level it up to clear the dungeons.
Only keep mastery gear. Don’t bother leveling up lower level dungeon gear from that level, like ‘hard’ or ‘expert’. You’ll regret it. Eat that stuff to get more orange dust and only put your time and energy into the highest mastery gear you can get. That’s what you’ll keep going forward and upgrading is really really really expensive right now.

How do I “sell” excess or unwanted moondust from the Star Altar? I see it has great value but how do I sell it?

You don’t! Don’t extract it if you’re not going to use it. The only thing you might do is to evolve some gray gear with it then sell the gear. It’s probably not even worth doing that.

Now I learn I have to fight 4 opponents or lose my offering. My my.

The more you offer the harder it gets. Try offering two items at first. That’s the minimum. You will have seven chances to defeat the elementals. If you don’t win the first time you can buy a few boosters (health boosters work well) and try again. If the battle is easy, increase the number of offered items the next time around.

The general rule is that the quality of dropped treasure increases with the level of difficulty. Hire friends and use boosters to take on dungeons and boss battles that you couldn’t complete on your own.

What I don’t get is the Star Alter increases with your level, so all the matches are extreme unless you use low level gear. How are you suppose to progress? Is there a “strategy” to getting mats or dust?

The last thing I would add is that you shouldn’t use the Star Altar until you are ready to evolve something. Concentrate on leveling up your gear and abilities with salvage gear and manna. When you do finally enter the Star Arena you’ll be that much stronger.

The update looks great, until I tried upgrading my gear and abilities with the star altar. Very bad design unless you are a very high lvl character or have a lot of money to spend in the store. For low level characters who can’t afford to use your store, this change took the game from challenging to virtually impossible to level their power level, which is a main element in the game. With very limited storage space, it is next to impossible to save the items needed to use the star altar to obtain the materials needed to evolve the gear and abilities. Now I don’t mind having to grind to earn better gear. But when I can’t reach the places where the better gear is because I can’t evolve my abilities and gear, well to me that makes very little sense.

Anto, Select the type of resource you want (gray, green, blue, purple, or orange material for equipment or gray, green, blue, or purple dust for abilities). The bar next to the anvil will show how much craft value you need to offer. Drag the equipment or gems you want to offer into the two boxes on the left. If they fill the craft value bar you will have enough to proceed. You can drag additional items into the six boxes on the right to increase your bonus materials. Tap the “make offering” button. You will then have to fight in the Star Arena. If you win your evolution materials will be deposited in the Altar. You can now go to the Blacksmith or Jeweler to evolve your equipment or ability gems.
